ArtsQuest recognizes area veterans

‘A wonderful example’
Miller Heights ES conducted its 14th annual Veterans Day Program Nov. 10, honoring several dozen veterans in attendance. Greeting guests and students, Principal Deborah Roeder said the annual event “sets a wonderful example for how important a day Veterans Day is.” Photo: Eighty-seven-year-old George Gallagher, a World War II veteran who was a U.S. Navy Seabee in Pearl Harbor and on Guam and Okinawa, stands during the “Armed Forces Medley.” Gallagher served in the Pacific Theater from 1940 until 1943.

The amazing Schrempels
Four generations of the Schrempel family have contributed their great gifts in the areas of music, photography, business and communal service to Bethlehem.
The first of the Shrempels arrived in Bethlehem from Philadelphia around 1870. Emil Sr. had worked as a weaver in a textile mill in Kensington, Pa. He was accompanied by his wife, Theresa (Ehrlich), and children, Elizabeth and Emil Jr.
